Topic: WHO update on new guideline developments for Articles
11 and 13 including marketing to youths and best practice for policy on
smoking in films.
Barbara Zolty has been working as a Policy Officer with the Tobacco Free
Initiative (TFI) at WHO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland since May
2007.
As part of the Bloomberg Global Initiative team, much of her work is focused
on helping countries develop and implement projects leading to substantial
and sustainable improvements in tobacco control laws, regulations, policies
and programmes.
Prior to that, Barbara worked from 1994-2001 as a technical officer in
the Tobacco Control Program at WHO/HQ on a range of projects, particularly
in the area of capacity building and developing policies on second-hand
smoke. She received her Masters of Public Health (MPH) from Oregon State
University. Barbara also has a degree in business and marketing from the
University of Massachusetts.
For a number of years she operated her own business, providing coaching
and communications training to a wide range of organizations and individuals
from various sectors.
