Speakers: Dr Reiner Hanewinkel

Topic: Exposure to smoking in popular contemporary movies
and youth smoking in Germany
Reiner Hanewinkel studied psychology, pedagogic and psychopathology at
the University of Kiel, Germany. After receiving his diploma in psychology,
he worked at the psychiatric hospital in Heiligenhafen, Germany and at
the Institute of Psychology of the University of Kiel. In 1992 he received
his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.
Between 1992 and 1996 he received post graduate training in behaviour
therapy and behaviour medicine. His research interests include the prevention
of substance abuse and violence in childhood and adolescence. He is an
expert in tobacco control measures.
In 2003 he received the Wilhelm-Feuerlein-Award for outstanding research
in the drug prevention field; in 2004 he received the First German Prevention
Award; in 2005 he received the Smokefree Living Research Award. He is
teaching Medical Psychology and Medical Sociology at the University of
Kiel, Medical School.
Dr Hanewinkel is member of several German and international professional
and research associations.
He is currently the director of the Institute for Therapy and Health Research.
