Reality Check
Reality Check is a New York organisation created
by teenagers in order to expose the different ways the tobacco industry
encourage young people to smoke.
Created in 2000 Reality Check was further developed in 2001 with a summit
to introduce a statewide youth-board.
Consisting of two teens from each county they sit on the board for one
year advising adults on what Reality Check’s specific focus should
be.
A second summit was soon held supported by MTV Road Rules and Real World
cast members Piggy.
Over 350 teenagers were given the opportunity to learn more about the
tobacco industry and the work of Reality Check.
